Soundvoice

free music and technology workshop for Bay Area residents experiencing housing or job insecurities and their families ages 14+

During the workshop, participants will explore improvising, recording and editing audio, and creating a piece to share in a final public concert. Up to 10 participants will receive audio and video documentation of their work, recording equipment, and a stipend.

Each class will feature a different guest artist presenting tools for recording, audio editing, and composition. The workshops will be led by Julie Herndon along with Hassan Estakhrian, John Ivers, Barbara Nerness, and Matt Robidoux: all sound makers based in San Francisco, Stanford, and the East Bay.

Classes will take place at 55 Taylor Street, San Francisco.

Stipend and materials are provided.

Soundvoice 2021 is made possible by a generous grant from the American Composers Forum as part of their Bay Area Artist in Residence program, with the support of Code Tenderloin and the Center for New Music. Since launching in 2015 with Rozella Kennedy and the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, Soundvoice has built a lasting relationship between the arts community and residents.
